TINTAGEL Surf Life Saving Club (TSLSC) have been kindly supported by local business Vineyard Candles with a donation of coloured rash vests for all their Nipper members (currently 36 local children 12 and under).
Glenn Slade from Vineyard Candles, who is also a volunteer coach at TSLSC, said: “We were happy to make the donation, the club is such a positive community activity for young people in the area.
“The business who supplied the rash vests, Mike Claire at MCT Rash Vests, also generously reduced their cost which was much appreciated.”
The club are getting excited about the Tintagel Carnival on Saturday, August 4, and plans are underway for this year’s float, along with their entry for the flower show at St Materiana’s in the lead up to the carnival.
Les Freke (TSLSC chairperson), Ryan Hughes (club captain) and Lewis Handley (vice club captain) have all recently completed, and successfully passed, their requalification of the Trainer Assessor Award and will continue to put this to good use training the members and volunteers over the coming season.
Volunteer Aly Chatterjea has also achieved her Level 2 Coach award.
A new initiative, seeing parents get more involved with club activities on a Friday evening at the beach, has been very successful.
Les said: “This is just another example of how our club includes, offers and supports community involvement, thus making us a positive role model for all our local young people.”
