THE churches in Advent, Delabole, Lanteglos-by-Camelford and St Teath are delighted to have been appointed a new priest-in-charge.
The Rev Angela Cooper, originally from Yorkshire, is currently the Curate at St Just-in-Roseland and St Mawes, and will take over the cluster of churches in June.
Rev Cooper has worked all over, including London and abroad.
About 15 years ago, she decided to venture into Cornwall, training in priesthood in St Ives, and later moved to St Mawes, where she has been for four years.
More recently, Rev Cooper heard about the priest-in-charge vacancy in the Camel-Allen cluster of churches, and decided to apply for it.
The vacancy existed following the departure of the Rev Peter Dixon last year. He had been in the post for two years.
Upon the news of her new role, Rev Cooper said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have been appointed, and I’m really looking forward to starting.”
Before her arrival, Rev Cooper will be licensed by the Bishop of Truro, which will include a special service.
She has received no further details as to when she’ll be moving into the house, but she hopes it will be soon.
Rev Cooper added: “I’m hoping to work with the community; I want to be there for the whole community, not just the church people.
“In my new role, I will focus on drawing together the community and the church, so we can get to know each other and get along.”
Rev Cooper’s service of Licensing by the Rt Rev Tim Thornton, Bishop of Truro, will take place on Monday, June 6, at 7.30pm in St Julitta’s Church, Lanteglos.
All are welcome to attend.
