HOLSWORTHY Town Band is currently making a big effort to raise its profile and attract new and younger players.

A new training band, led by Terry Jones, an honours music graduate with many years of experience of teaching people to play brass instruments, is being set up.

On Wednesday, October 22 members of the band played during the coffee morning in the Memorial Hall, while a skittles evening was held on Saturday, to which new and old members of the band, and anyone who wanted to know about the group or possibly learn to play a brass instrument, were welcomed.

The band's next playing engagement will be on November 9 — Armistice Day — when the band will lead the parade in remembrance of those who gave their lives in the two world wars, as it has been proud to do over many years.
