COUNCILLOR Rob Tremain has been announced the new Mayor of Launceston, following a vote at the town council meeting held on Tuesday, March 15.

Cllr Tremain was put forward by Cllr Dave Gordon — a proposal that was almost unanimously agreed with by the gathered councillors.

Cllr Tremain, whose mayoral duties will commence in May, said: "Thank you one and all for your enthusiastic nominations and I'll endeavour to do my best."
