THE mayor choosing on Wednesday, May 4, during the Holsworthy Town Council's Annual Meeting saw Cllr Jon Hutchings step into the breech.

All councillors voted in favour of Cllr Jon Hutchings taking over from Cllr John Allen to become Holsworthy Town’s Mayor.

They were all in favour once again as Cllr Pat Smith succeed Jon in his previous role as deputy mayor.

They will now work alongside each other, under the watchful eye of Town Clerk Vanessa Saunders, to take Holsworthy through the year 2016 and beyond.

Present at the meeting was former councillor Ken Watson who, during public open question time, thanked Cllr Allen for his time served as mayor and congratulated both Cllr Hutchings and Cllr Smith and wished them all the best in their new roles.

Richard Brown had written a letter to town clerk Vanessa Saunders, which was subsequently read out at the meeting, to thank Cllr Allen for his long servitude to the town of Holsworthy and to extend his congratulations to the new mayor and deputy mayor as they take Holsworthy into the future.

The full council line up now stands as: mayor Jon Hutchings, deputy mayor Pat Smith, town clerk Vanessa Saunders, assistant town clerk Kerry Punter, Cllr John Allen, Cllr Joanne Heaven, Cllr Keith Musker, Cllr Helen Parker, Cllr Lyndon Piper, Cllr Colin Punter, Cllr John Sanders, Cllr Michael Stanton
