THE members of Sir Bevil Granville Mariners Lodge No 1231 met at the Masonic Hall in Bude for the ceremony of installing a new master on September 21.
Following a very successful year in office, the outgoing master, Glyn Prout, conducted the ceremony in the presence of members and guests from throughout the Masonic province of Cornwall, and the new master, Steve Parnell (below), took over the important duties of presiding over the lodge. He appointed and invested a new team of officers, who will work with him for the next 12 months, in a very competent manner.
The meeting was attended by Christopher Hawkey, the assistant provincial grand master, as well as three past deputy provincial grand masters. A cheque for £100 was presented to the assistant provincial grand master for Masonic charities and he thanked the members for their hospitality and generosity.
After the meeting, a celebration dinner was held at the Masonic hall and the traditional toast to the new master was proposed. He responded by thanking all those present for their support and pledged to carry on the traditions and aims of the lodge. The next meeting of the lodge will take place on November 16.
