THE founders of a new community market in Camelford are hoping the venture will provide a boost for businesses in the town.

Set up by Katie Farnell and Cath Thornhill, the market will be held at Camelford Hall each Wednesday and host a number of local traders.

There is no committee behind the venture, just Katie and Cath, and they want people to know that it's just two people living locally, who want to help support the community.

Katie said: "Camelford is our nearest town, and there are so many empty shops — we want to bring the place some business.

"We have been around the local shops and offered them a stall, and also asked them for posters so that we can advertise their business.

"We will also have casual stalls so that people in Camelford — whether it's a young person wanting to try out the market to see if they can make money or someone getting out of the rat-race — can give it a go."
