THE Tesco superstore in Launceston is set to unveil its new-look and to celebrate the store will make a £500 donation to a local charity.

The store on Tavistock Road, Launceston, will re-launch at 8am on Monday, October 15. At 10am the store will hold an official re-launch ceremony when store manager Nick Dawe will make a £500 donation to local charity, The Trustees of Coronation Park.

Trustee chairman and Launceston Deputy Mayor Dave Gordon will accompany Mayor Rob Tremain in receiving the donation on behalf of the charity.

The mayor will then declare the store re-open for business by cutting a ribbon alongside Nick.

Cllr Gordon said: "We are delighted with the news of the donation to the Coronation Park Trust. We have a great relationship with the store and are currently liaising to determine the best use of these funds. We are looking forward to seeing all of the improvements."

Nick added: "I am delighted that we are able to celebrate our re-launch by making a donation to The Trustees of Coronation Park, I look forward to the attendance of both the mayor and deputy mayor on Monday."

The changes to the store, which has been increased by 20,000 square feet, have been made as a result of customer feedback.

The store now has more choice in food, particularly fruit and veg, meat and frozen food.

The store has also benefitted from a new fish and meat counter, W C Rowe pasty counter, a new Costa Coffee café, an improved clothing department and much wider aisles.

The entrance to the store has now been enhanced and has a new exit road and recycling bays.

New services at the store will include a deli counter, bakery, and fruit and vegetable department. The store will see improvements in areas such chilled and frozen foods.

Nick said: "We are looking forward to hearing our shoppers' feedback. All of the changes have been made with our customers in mind to enhance their shopping experience.

"I would also like to thank my colleagues at the store for all of their hard work during the extension."

Customers are invited to join in the re-launch celebrations at the store on Monday, October 15 at 10am when, as well as making a donation, the store will be serving complimentary refreshments including champagne, cake and orange juice.

There will also be a free hessian bag give away, the bags designed by a seven year old pupil for Launceston CP School will be given out at the store for free. Libby Scott won a competition for local schools to design a bag; she will receive a £50 Tesco gift card and she and her classmates will be presented with a £250 donation for the school.

Local radio station Pirate FM will also be in store between 10am and 12pm giving away £300 in Tesco gift cards.

All customers have to do is keep an eye out for the 'Love Crew' in store and listen for instructions to win.

Store opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 6am until Midnight and from 10am until 4pm on Sunday.
