A NEW Holsworthy Town Councillor has been made Mayor for the year 2011 / 2012 at her first meeting. It also marked the end of an era for Richard Brown, who, after 12 years on the town Council and three times as Mayor, officially handed over the title at the town council meeting on May 1.
Before the meeting began, former councillor Arthur Wright read an ode which he had created for the outgoing Mayor.
Richard Brown thanked everyone for their help over the years and said it was a privilege and honour to have been Mayor, with duties extending beyond the chamber.
Nominations were then given for the position of Mayor for 2011/12. Cllr Rebecca Buckingham proposed Cllr Pauline Ede, this was seconded by Cllr Pat Burtenshaw. Cllr Pam Johns proposed Cllr David Smith and this was seconded by Cllr James Parker.
