TAKING care of the town is new handyman and maintenance assistant for Holsworthy Town Council, George Orr-Wilcox.

Mr Orr-Wilcox will be carrying out essential repairs and maintenance around the town as part of his new role as ‘handyman’.

As part of his duties he will be undertaking minor repairs, gardening work including the cutting and planting of the grassed areas, verges, hedges and flower beds in the town.

He will be in charge of the maintenance of the town’s Stanhope Park. This will include a weekly inspection of the area as well as any general maintenance that is required such as cleaning up of; the play area and its equipment, the outdoor gym facility and the skateboard park.

The clean up work will involve litter picking, the emptying of public bins, the removal of leaves from areas and general weeding of paths and grass areas.

Mr Orr-Wilcox will also be assisting in the maintenance and gardening of Badock Gardens along with his duties to carry out general maintenance, clean up and caretaking of the Sports Pavilion.

A council spokesperson said: “It is with great excitement that Holsworthy Town Council now has a handyman. George has been appointed and is already making a great improvement to our Town, his role is varied which includes gardening and general maintenance.

“George will ensure, that all areas of Holsworthy, including Stanhope Park and Badock Gardens, are visited and general maintenance, litter picking, and gardening of these areas are done on a daily or weekly basis.”
