A CAMELFORD town councillor has been selected as the Green Party spokesperson for North Cornwall.

Claire Hewlett was recently selected by mid and East Cornwall Green Party as their constituency spokesperson for North Cornwall.

The Green Party has a strong and distinctive voice on the environmental and social issues that Cornwall faces. Julie Bennett, secretary of the mid and East Cornwall Green Party, said: “We’re delighted to have such a talented person in this key role.”

As secretary of Camelford’s neighbourhood development plan and one of the founding members of Camelford’s Clean Air Group, Claire continues to gain invaluable experience of local issues.

However, she also hopes to use this role to gain a deeper understanding of the constituency and investigate how ‘green’ solutions can be made to work for North Cornwall.

Claire said: “It’s a really exciting opportunity to get the Green message out there and dispel some of the myths about the Green Party.”
