BUDE Junior and Infants Schools have taken the exciting step of changing their uniforms to reflect the joining of the schools to form Bude Federation.
The new uniform, modelled here by Amber Glossop (right) and Nancy Cunningham at the school summer fayre, is a striking turquoise cardigan/jumper and white polo shirt. This replaces the old green jumper and red top combination.
Mrs Sally Gordon, executive head teacher, said: “There was a feeling among children and parents that the uniform should be changed as the schools joined, and so we went to a vote. I’m so glad the new colours won, I think it looks amazing. The turquoise represents the sea and the new yellow logo, the sand — so appropriate for Bude.”
The results of the vote, cast back in March, were that 14 parents wanted to stay with the old uniform and logos, 162 opted for the old uniform with the new logo and 310 parents chose the new colours.
The two schools’ seagull logos have been replaced with an eye-catching wave and sun design — created from the students’ suggestions. To help with the transition to the new uniform, all students will receive a free jumper or cardigan, kindly funded by the PTA — Bude Federation Friends. Students receiving the Pupil Premium will receive a free uniform pack. Mrs Gordon added: “All the children will be wearing the new uniform from September, but if parents don’t have adequate supplies, the old uniform can be worn too to begin with.”
