Perfect weather welcomed golfers and non-golfers to Launceston Golf Club's Open Day beginning at 2.30pm on Saturday May 2. There was free tuition from John Tozer the club professional as well as a putting competition and a golfing quiz in the clubhouse
Committee members were on hand to welcome new faces and show prospective members around the club's facilities.As a special inducement playing membership was offered at £234 plus affiliation fees until January 1 and social membership at a bargain £15.
On Sunday May 5 The Lippiatt Salver, a medal competition,was contested at Launceston Golf Club. A blustery wind combined with well set back medal tees and some tricky pin positions ensured that scoring was going to be tough.
Results: 1st, T Pahlsson nett 68 (on countback); 2nd, P Pridham nett 68 (on countback ); 3rd S Souter nett 68.
