The 31st St Teath Village Show took place on a hot sunny day.

The organisers were concerned that the recent spells of hot weather may have brought everything on too soon, but this was not the case, with a bumper year being recorded in the fruit and vegetable classes.

They received a whopping 204 entries for fruit and vegetables with a further 120 in the cut flowers, pot plants and floral art categories.

Home produce received a respectable 84 entries, the Beverages Classes were down this year with 14 entries. However, Art and Photography had 40 and 35 entries respectively.

Organisers were delighted to welcome back the school entries this year with their poems, cards and 3D models. Unfortunately there were no pre-school entries so sadly the new trophy was not presented. Chairman Kevin Hargrave began the trophy presentations by thanking Elaine Everitt, the president for this year. He then thanked all the entrants, the Timepiece team for delivering the schedules, the café and David for accepting entry forms, the judges, stewards and recorders for all their help, and of course the ‘Joybird’ ladies on a lovely lunch in Patrick Mewton’s conservatory which he kindly allowed them to use.

There were some new faces collecting trophies this year too along with experienced exhibitors.

Kenzie Allen and Hephzi Williams each collected three trophies in the under 16s classes. Stuart Scott won the Les and Sylvia Mewton Trophy for the best article made from wood, Jan Mewton collected the trophy for runner up for the most points in show and Lorraine Jasper for most points in show.

Darren Milner was awarded the trophy for most points for the allotment and most points for fruit and vegetbles and finally, Les Rust won the Cornish Dahlia Society Rosette with his display of decorative dahlias.
