A NEW colouring book with detailed illustrations of Bude’s most iconic places is due to hit the shelves later in the year.
Fiona Cockwill is an illustrator with five colouring books already published, and is now working on her latest book, which will feature scenes of Bude taken from her own photographs that she has collected over the years.
Some of the illustrations to be featured in the book include the Pepper Pot on Compass Point, the Bude Light, Belle Vue, the Pink House, the Lock Gates, Bude Sea Pool, as well as various beach and cliff views.
A limited edition of 50 books printed by Biddles is also due to be published, all being signed by Fiona herself.
It is hoped that her Kickstarter campaign will help gather as much funding as possible for the limited edition books. Her second editions can be published for free, and she has already listed this on Amazon. However, the shipping fees for the copies of the book will be extremely high.
Originally from Surrey, Fiona considers Bude her hometown, and hopes to make it her home in the future.
She told the Post: “My grandparents lived in Bude most of their lives, and their son Peter – my father – moved to Surrey in 1968 and married.
“I was born in Surrey and spent a lot of time with my grandparents, such that I consider Bude my second home, and with nearly 500 years of Cornish and Devon family history to our name, I have a great love of the town and the people.”
With its unique and historical heritage, Fiona hopes to celebrate Bude through her upcoming colouring book, and is confident in her ability to produce the remaining illustrations in good time.
Fiona added: “I have several colouring books printed on other subjects, and want to create this memory of Bude for current and future generations to enjoy.”
She hopes that as many local people from Bude will support her in her latest venture, and will donate and back her Kickstarter campaign to help get the Bude colouring book into publication.
