THE A38 between the Carkeel roundabout and the Saltash Tunnel is due to be closed all night tonight (Friday) and tomorrow night as a new footbridge is lifted into place across the main road.
The bridge will link Saltash with the Tamar View Industrial Estate and also provide a safe pedestrian route to any future residential development in the area.
The structure is being installed as part of a wider £3.27m scheme at the roundabout which is aimed at improving traffic flow.
The A38 (east and westbound carriageways) is due to be closed to all traffic tonight between 7pm and 8am. The road is due to be closed again at the same times tomorrow night.
A diversion will be in place via the B3271.
The design of the bridge has been inspired by the Royal Albert railway bridge across the Tamar.
