AS PART of a tour of North Devon before it goes into service on September 1, Devon's new £4.5 million air ambulance landed in Holsworthy's Stanhope Park last Friday afternoon and was the main attraction at a well attended fun day, organised by the Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

The new helicopter is Devon's second fully funded air ambulance thanks to fundraising around the county and will be based at Eaglescott Airfield, Umberleigh, making it possible to reach almost anywhere in the county within 15 minutes.

The delivery of the new helicopter on July 31 meant that the trust now owns two aircraft. The helicopter that had served them for the past 12 years would be returned to the leasing company.
