CAMELFORD’S Neighbourhood Plan has taken a significant step forward into seeing completion.

Over the last six months, policy working groups have been analysing the results of major public consultations from last year. This has included checking other research and policy documents to form policies for the plan.

Topics such as housing, employment, transport and community facilities are the backbone of what forms the plan, and which will inevitably affect planning decisions in the future.

Claire Hewlett , the secretary of the Neighbourhood Plan, said: “All the volunteers have worked so hard over the winter and we’re very close to being able to present a draft plan. They should feel very proud of their work.”

Lee Dunkley, the treasurer of the Neighbourhood Plan steering group, and the town clerk, added: “This is a unique chance for the local community to have a real impact, with legal weighting, on how development happens within Camelford.

“The working groups are developing policies based directly on the consultation undertaken last year, and people will have the chance to have further say at public events this spring and summer.”

Cornwall Council will now have to undergo compliance checking, to check that the policies do not contravene National or Local Planning Policies.
