Narberth's Colossal Cake Sale raised £3,500 for Help for Heroes on Saturday.

Although the total was a little down on the previous year, organisers had their cookery books to add to the coffers, so they are very pleased with the result.

Said Sally Amoore, whose younger son Jamie was seriously injured in Helmand Province: "The day was very wet and cold and windy so we were very worried about turnout, but we needn't have fussed as we were busy all day and sold our last cakes at 4.30 pm.

"The High Sheriff, Jamie Lewis, opened the show. The RAF cadets were most helpful decorating the town with balloons and plying us with coffee and taking turns to be a wounded bear! We would be stuck without the help of the Army and their tent and tables. Everyone will have been notified by now if they were winners of raffle prizes. Many thanks to all the prize donations, The Grove, Tavernspite Garden Centre, Andrew Price among just a few.

"The cakes and biscuits were beautiful and the tables were laden with lovely things. I sometimes wish we had all the names of our bakers so that we could thank them in person because we are truly grateful for their massive efforts. Thank you all for making our third year as good as the others. See you in 2016!"
