IT was a double celebration for the Holsworthy Mutual Aid COVID Support Group this weekend as it welcomed the return of its popular ‘Bake Off’ event followed by the presentation of a special award.
‘Holsworthy Bake Off 2’, invited members of the community to collect a hamper once again from the Memorial Hall. The ingredients and recipes provided popular with many taking to social media to share photographs of their pasty and scone creations — good and bad.
Thanks to the Devon Community Fund, which supports for vulnerable and low paid families, and the Holsworthy Hospital League of Friends, Holsworthy Mutual Aid was able to throw this community project open to anyone who wanted to take part. Over the weekend the group provided more than 250 hampers allowing just short of 900 people to join in the fun.
This was not the only positive news the group received this week, as it was presented with the ‘LiveWest Community Stars’ award for the creative ways is has supported the Holsworthy community, including the bake off and for dressing unused shop fronts with lockdown picture galleries to brighten up the town.
