SOUND Waves South West (SWSW) music and music therapy trust, based in Bude, is grateful to Waitrose Holsworthy for selecting them as a beneficiary of their Community Matters scheme in May.
The charity received £297. SWSW enhances the lives of more than 1,000 children every year through music and music therapy. It is based in Bude and funds professional music therapy to help children with a wide range of difficulties in special units in schools in North Devon and North Cornwall.
The children may have profound physical and mental problems, be on the autistic spectrum, or have traumatic early years, for example. There is also a highly regarded ‘Instrument Loan Scheme’, through which more than 120 children, within about a 50-mile radius of Bude, have a free loan of a musical instrument for their music lessons, and annually more than 1,000 children in local schools are treated to inspiring workshops given by professional musicians.
Jen Ash, chair of SWSW, said: “Thank you to Waitrose customers for supporting our charity.”
