MORE than 100 guests enjoyed Holsworthy and District Lions’ senior citizens’ lunch in the Memorial Hall on Saturday.
A three-course dinner, comprising vegetable soup, roast beef with all the trimmings, and apple pie with Devonshire cream, and drink from the bar were enjoyed by a 116 guests at what is, traditionally, the Lions’ first major event of the year.
Entertainment on the piano was provided by Margaret Parfett.
Club president Brian Withall said that, as always, the day had been fantastic: “It is lovely to see so many old friends getting together and enjoying a good meal and a chat.”
He expressed thanks to Jon Hutchings of the White Hart Hotel in Holsworthy for all his hard work in the kitchen on the day, Lions’ wives Annette Hutchings and Lyn Fursdon for their help serving the guests, and the many and various shops in Holsworthy for donating prizes for the raffle that followed the meal.
