A Crundale mother and her daughter Charlotte put themselves through a challenge to raise vital funds for Wales' heart charity, British Heart Foundation (BHF) Cymru for all the help and support they have given her daughter Abby.
Liz Errington Evans, who works as an occupational health nurse at Pembrokeshire College, along with daughter Charlotte, aged six, abseiled down Pembroke Castle on Sunday, June 14 to raise money for British Heart Foundation (BHF) Cymru for all the help and support sister Abby has received from the charity. So far over £450 has been raised for the nation's heart charity.
Liz said: "I wanted to do something for all the help and support Abby has had from the BHF as we receive great support from the BHF specialist nurse. Abby is now nine years of age and attends Ysgol Glan Cleddau. She was diagnosed with a heart condition when she was just seven years of age. She is waiting to go for treatment at Bristol Children's hospital in the next few months."
Abby's sister Charlotte said: "I loved every minute of it. I was much faster coming down than my mum and it was lovely to see Abby cheering away as we made our way down. We also raised over £450 to support British Heart Foundation's work. It's not too late, you can still sponsor on line, go to: http://www.justgiving/Liz">www.justgiving/Liz and little Charlottes Abseil Pembroke Castle."
Local BHF fundraising and volunteer manager Jayne Lewis said: "I would like to thank Liz and daughter Charlotte for all her help and support in raising funds for BHF. The money raised will go to the Mending Broken Hearts Appeal in Wales which is the largest fundraising appeal ever launched in the BHF's history. It will fund the research that could begin to 'mend broken hearts' in as little as 10 years and save and improve the lives of millions within decades. With someone in the UK having a heart attack every six minutes you just don't know when your family might be affected."
