A GRANT request from the Merlin MS Centre was ‘left on the table’ at Camelford Town Council’s recent meeting.
Nicola Hawkins, the trust fundraising officer applied to the council for a grant of £270 towards one home visit for physiotherapy outreach for people with Multiple Sclerosis who live in Camelford and are unable to get to the Merlin MS Centre.
Councillors were told that the Merlin Centre had applied for the same grant last year, which was not supported, but it was submitted again as it is the new financial year.
Mayor, Cllr Rob Rotchell said: “Our normal course would be to support local charities and organisations. It would be unusual for us to support something that’s outside our patch.”
Cllr Kirsty Ferguson added: “I don’t know of anyone who has been accessing this and I know several with Multiple Sclerosis.”
It was proposed and agreed that the request be left on the table.
