THE Co-op food store in Wey Hill has been sold to Marks and Spencer which will open a new food hall in the Lion Lane premises.
All 19 full-time and part-time staff working at the Co-op have been offered jobs with M&S, and the Post Office counters inside will stay for the time being.
The sale is part of Co-operative Group's strategy to sell off some of its larger stores.
