Local MP Jesse Norman has been elected as the Chair of the Commons Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.

After the announcement was made Mr Norman tweeted his thanks for all the messages of congratulations he had received and added a link on youtube which was to the 1966 James Brown classic "I feel good."

Mr Norman, who has often been seen playing his trumpet with Ross-on-Wye Town Band, is a director of the Hay Festival and a trustee of London performing arts space, the Roundhouse, which was founded by his father.

As well as key issues such as the BBC charter and licence fee, press freedom, broadband and football governance, Mr Norman also said the committee should look at mobile services and that it is "important to look at the case for fairer local arts and broadcast media funding."
