NORTH Cornwall MP Dan Rogerson has welcomed the news that dairy foods company Dairy Crest has signed a new partnership to export whey powder from its Davidstow creamery. Last year Dairy Crest announced a £45-million investment at Davidstow to allow the company to manufacture demineralised whey powder, used for infant formula milk. Last week the company signed a partnership with dairy exporter Fonterra to export the whey powder from Davidstow around the world over the next five years. It also announced a further £20-million investment in the Davidstow site to manufacture galacto-oligosaccharide (GOS), a lactose-based prebiotic, widely used in infant formula.
