A FEAST of food and entertainment will transform a Holsworthy park for the town's first food and drink festival next month. Jon Hutchings, landlord of the White Hart Hotel in Holsworthy, is co-ordinating the Holsworthy Food and Drink Festival on June 7. It will showcase a mouth-watering line-up of events for all to enjoy and help put the town on the map. Stanhope Park, which re-opened last December, has been chosen to host the event, and will boast cookery demonstrations, a food market, a 'kidz play zone', bar and evening entertainment. Throughout the day there will be local artists performing and during the evening session there will be live music from Launceston's Horse Band. Mr Hutchings said: "The food and drink festival is a way of getting people into the park and making use of a great space we have in the town. The idea of a 'kidz play zone' is to make the festival a family day out. "The food area has an emphasis on local! Not necessarily local taste, but locally produced. From chutneys to paella — there will be tastings and try before you buy. "We want people to taste what's on offer. You will be able to sample foods like local pickles and honeys to Spanish tortillas and meatballs!" A variety of ales and ciders will be on tap, provided by nine local and regional breweries. The 'world's best lager', will be available to try. The Post is pleased to sponsor the festival, alongside Holsworthy Town Council, The Pop Up Bar Company and Devon County Council. Judy Ward, general manager of the Post, said: "We are delighted to be one of the sponsors of the event and we hope it goes extremely well." The festival kicks off at 11am, entry is £5, which includes a drink from the bar and a souvenir glass. Entry to the play zone is £2.50, for unlimited use. Parking is available at Well Car Park, a short walk away. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
