A GIANT poppy journeyed across Cornwall to mark 100 years since the birth of a symbol that marks Remembrance and hope.

The Royal British Legion is encouraging people in Cornwall to support the Poppy Appeal for the memory of the fallen and the future of the living. This year's appeal launch centered on a giant six-foot poppy.

A fleet of approximately 20 motorbikes from the Royal British Legion Riders branch formed a convoy and set off with their poppy cargo, on their tour of Cornwall last Thursday.

The riders, many of whom are serving and ex-service veterans, started at HMS Raleigh, Torpoint, and travelled 300 miles across Cornwall, visiting Davidstow Moor RAF Memorial Museum and the new poppy monument near Camelford.
