Bomb disposal experts was called to Cinderford this morning (Wednesday, June 10) after a workman uncovered potential explosives.
Some 17 mortars were discovered on a site being developed for housing next to the White Hart pub on St White's Road.
Nearby residents were evacuated but the devices, dating back to the Second World War, turned out to be non-explosive smoke mortars.
St White's Road and a pathway through St John's churchyard were closed for several hours.
The Review has exclusively spoken to the man who discovered the mortars and for full details see next week's paper.
