OVER £2,500 was raised in Camelford for the Poppy Appeal this year.

Margaret Shillaber, Camelford Poppy Organiser, recently presented a number of certificates to collectors and businesses in the town for their efforts in raising funds for the appeal.

They were: a 10-year certificate of appreciation to collector Vernon Williams; Liberal Club — 35 years; Conservative Club — 30 years; Spar shop — 35 years; Camelford Community Primary School — 35 years; Sir James Smith's Community School — 35 years; Camelford Library — 25 years; NatWest Bank — 10 years; Barclays Bank — 10 years; Darlington Inn — 10 years; Masons Arms — 10 years; Camelford Surgery — 10 years; Camelford Sports Centre — 10 years; Camelot Garage — 10 years.

The town raised £2,687.17, this was from street collections and door to door and static points, and also the church collection. The town's amount was up by nearly £300.

Mrs Shillaber said: "I most say a very big thank you for all the collectors and people who help me, they all do a fantastic job."
