Mr George Larkworthy, who was on the committee himself around 40 years ago, opened the show for contestants and visitors.
Entries were very good this year, despite the poor weather, with 724 in the adult section and 179 in the children’s section. All were to a very high standard.
There was a fancy dress competition as well, which saw some wonderful costumes with first prizewinners going to seven-year-old Roxie Tucker as ‘Strictly Flamenco’ and eight-month-old Mason Pattender as a ‘Pirate’.
The results of the indoor competitions were as follows: ‘Best Veg Exhibit’ — Les Cole with Six Pods Pea’s; ‘Best Flower Exhibit’ — Gordon Slade with Vase 12 Sweet Peas; ‘Best Pot Plant’ — Pat Nethacott with Fuchsia.
All in attendance had a fun time. Thanks have been extended to everyone who helped make the show a success.
