On top of that there were the main awards for Most Points in Show and Best Exhibit.

Flowers — Victoria Anderssen. Vegetables — Lynda Jones. Crafts — Sally Halls. Photography — Angie Marshall. Cookery — Dianne Pettyemerides.

Most Points in Show — Dianne Pettyemerides.

Best exhibit — Holly Yelland (a lily flower).

Exhibitors put their produce into the hall with the judges — John Langley (vegetables/flowers), Chris and Jean Wonnacott (photography/children) and Helen Bookham and Kath Parsons (cookery/craft) — then spending the morning and early afternoon assessing.

Doors opened at 2pm with a small queue to get in, and went on till around 4pm.

Chair of the committee, Dianne Pettyemerides, said: “We had over 300 entries, which is up a bit from last year, and the quality of those was good right across the board.

“As a committee, we’d like to thank everyone, particularly the judges and everyone who took part, as we had a really good turnout this year.

“We hope that next year, everyone will again step up to the challenge and join in.”
