STUDENTS and staff at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland — working in conjunction with The Country Food Trust (TCFT) — donated 2,400 meals to Launceston Foodbank and Callington Soup Run.

TCFT is a registered charity that produces food and donated it to people in need, aiming to feed more than one-million in the next five years. To date 450,000 meals have been delivered throughout the UK, to people in need in towns and rural areas.

Donations flooded in throughout December and one student even donated her own savings to the cause.

Student Kayleigh Paddock said dropping off all the food and other essentials to the soup run and foodbank had been rewarding.

She said: “We all worked together to efficiently unload all of the boxes and despite the bad weather we got it all done.

“It felt really good knowing that we were doing something kind and something that would have a positive impact on people, especially a difficult time like the holidays.”

Animal management programme manager, Rebecca Egan, said everyone was ‘very proud’ of the way all the students and staff had pulled together to help those less fortunate than themselves.

Gamekeeping programme manager and TCFT ambassador for Cornwall, Ian Berry, said it was ‘particularly relevant that we remember those in need at this time of year’, adding: “However, we will be here to provide support as long as it is needed.”
