SUN streamed through the windows of Altarnun Village Hall recently for the start of the Moorland Art Group exhibition, writes Helen Pusey.

This was the group’s 35th exhibition, and there were people visiting from as far as Kent.

Lilac and cream bunting festooned the hall, which added to the feel of this truly, warm welcoming, friendly exhibition of local artists.

Artists exhibiting their work included Margaret Harrison, Liz Gregory, Elizabeth Prince, Brenda Murphy, Dora Reed, Garry Balaam, Pam Kempster, Sioux Jones, Brenda Murphy, Lynne Wakely and Jenny Holt.

An exclusive Moorland Art Group calendar 2017 could be purchased containing twelve of the paintings in the exhibition.

There was an array of handmade jewellery crafted in unusual designs using various stones and silver.

Other greetings cards with the artists’ work could be purchased. Pam Kempster had created spectacle holders, earrings, pendants and bracelets along with knitted beanie hats in teeny sizes for the smaller person in the family.

Handmade seaside mirrors could be purchased made from shells, driftwood and sand.

Refreshments were available as well as a daily raffle giving everyone the opportunity to win either a painting or craft.

Artist Margaret Harrison said: “It is lovely to see people who visit every year as well as visitors.”

With so much to see and purchase, it is not surprising this exhibition is so popular with both local people and visitors. In total £170 was raised from donations that will go to the RNLI.
