THE results from a traffic consultation in and around parts of Launceston have recently been announced by the town strategy group. The 'Post' took to the streets to see what people's thoughts were on the matter.

A resident from Lanstephan who wished to remain anonymous said cars "whiz" around parts of the town which are supposed to be for loading and unloading.

"There is a need for more zebra crossings," she said and suggested one near the multi storey car park.

She has lived in the town for 40 years. Included in the results, the strategy group suggested pedestrianising Westgate, Church and High streets.

"They can't pedestrianise every street, because they have got to drive out somewhere.

"The taxi rank is central and you haven't got miles to find it. They should stay where they are."

The resident described St Stephen's Hill as a "bug burner" and felt all traffic coming down the hill past the church, should have right of way.
