THE Post area was once again hit by minor flooding over the weekend, with some roads being affected.

A yellow weather warning was put in place by the Met Office this weekend (February 29 to March 1) as Storm Jorge was set to lash the south west with yet more wind and rain.

The usual suspects, Polson Bridge and Yeolmbridge, saw a lot of standing water and Dipper Mill in Shebbear was almost impassable.

Many communities came together to tackle and prevent flood damage and the Neighbourhood Watch Network across Devon and Cornwall is searching for the local stories to highlight how effective its network is.

A spokesperson said: “We understand that many areas are facing challenging times in light of the recent floods across England and Wales. We also know that some of you are doing great work in your communities to make a positive difference.

“We would like to share your good work stories on our website and in our newsletter to promote and encourage other Neighbourhood Watch members to help in their areas.

“Equally, if you are in a flooded area and you are in need of support and advice from other Neighbourhood Watch areas, please let us know.

“Stories we receive by end of day on Friday, March 6, can be shared in our March newsletter and on our new website, which will be launched in March. But do continue to send us your stories beyond this date too.

“We are thinking about you all at this time and hope that your friends and family are safe.”

If someone has been working within a Neighbourhood Watch group supporting the local community through the floods and have plans for the clean-up effort they are asked to send these stories and any supporting photographs to the Neighbourhood Watch team’s senior communication and digital manager, Deborah Waller, [email protected]
