THE need for affordable homes in Cornwall was raised with housing minister Kris Hopkins when he visited North Cornwall this month. The constituency's prospective parliamentary Conservative candidate Scott Mann, experts from the county's Rural Housing Association and Cornwall Council representatives met the minister to discuss how the authority allocates its housing stock and is dealing with increasing local demand. One proposal discussed included the use of modular buildings in other areas of the country, which can be built in just five days. Mr Mann said: "I like the idea of using modular housing as a quick solution to North Cornwall's housing problems. We need truly affordable housing for hard working families on Cornish wages. We should streamline the planning process for this to happen." For the full report, and a round up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
