ARRIVING at the second anniversary of Launceston's Foodbank is not just a tremendous achievement but also an event to be celebrated.
The Foodbank committee has heaped praise on the community for its support — vice chairman Yvonne King said: "Without people from our community giving their time and their food we would not be here helping those in crisis."
From the initial meeting called by Keith Roberts in August 2011 to ask if a Foodbank was needed in the town to where it is now with offices and a food store at Newport, pick-up points at Central Methodist, the Orchard furniture store on Pennygilliam and the Money Advice Centre located at the Newport office, everyone can be proud and thankful for all that has been achieved.
It has not been without problems. Finance plays a major part and without funding or donations, none of what is established now would have been achieved.
