A?NEW micro library has been launched at Stoke Climsland Community Centre.

The micro library replaces the old mobile library that used to operate in the area, giving local people an opportunity to still borrow and read more new books.

Ruth Nevill said: “It [micro libraries] replaces the old mobile libraries. That service has been greatly reduced by councils recently, there are currently not many micro libraries in our area but more are being set up recently including our one.

“They were given up to £1,000, which was to go towards the installation of IT facilities and shelving for the books to help set the micro library up.

“It is being run by the same lady who used to drive the mobile library and this micro library now has the ability to order new books in for those who use it. It operates on an honesty system, as there is not a librarian present at all times.

“The library has been running since the middle of March and has loaned about 100 so far, which is an incredible amount.”

There are also future plans to set up a café and get as many people using the Community Centre as possible.
