CHRISTMAS came early to St Breward on Friday, December 2 when the children of Messy Church acted out the Nativity story in the church.

The children came dressed as characters and there was an assortment of angels, shepherds and Wise Men plus of course Mary and Joseph.

There were also some well behaved donkeys and sheep. As Canon Sherry narrated, the children acted out the story as it unfolded leading up the birth of Jesus in the stable in Bethlehem. They then saw the angels who told the shepherds and the star that led the Wise Men to where Jesus was lying in the manger. As the story progressed carols were sung and it all ended with a rousing rendition of Ding Dong Merrily On High.

Following this the children enjoyed a well earned tea of pasties and chocolate yule logs.

Thanks were expressed to all the parents who came along with their children and helped make this special story come to life and show the children the true meaning of Christmas and how it all began. Thanks were also expressed to Julie Blackburn who played the organ so brilliantly so they could all sing along to the carols.

Messy Church takes place the first Friday of every month usually in the village hall from 3.30pm and all children are welcome to come along with an adult. The next one will be on Friday, January 6.
