A MESSAGE in a bottle has been washed up on Bude’s shores recently, having travelled from Newquay.

The bottle — an old wine or prosecco bottle, perhaps — had been picked up at Black Rock beach by Rebecca Whittaker’s husband, Jason, who brought it back home for Rebecca to look at herself, after she previously discovered another message in a bottle at Christmas time, from a little girl in Ireland.

The letter was from a 15-year-old boy named Hayden, from Somerset, who had been visiting Cornwall with his family during the February half term holiday.

Dated Thursday, February 16, the letter included details of Hayden’s holiday so far, and stated that Somerset was ‘famous for the cider and apples’.
