THE annual Jonathan Bruton Memorial Match was held at Launceston Rugby Club on Friday, April 16.

A good crowd turned out to watch the match in glorious spring sunshine. It was refereed by Ian Freestone of Launceston.

The game is organised annually by Jonny's friends between the Launceston RFC Castles and the Cornwall Fire Brigade, who he used to work for.

This year, the fire brigade were unable to put out a full team, so two sides were fielded from retired players who used to play rugby with Jonny, current Castles team members and other friends.

The final score was 39 all, and the celebrations carried on in the clubhouse til later in the evening.

A collection was made on the night and the total raised will be donated to a charity of Jonny's mum, Karen's choice.

One of the organisers, Kev Creber, who is Manager of the Castles team, said: "I would like to thank everybody that took part, turned up and I think we did Jonny proud."
