CONCERNS have been raised regarding potholes around Bude and surrounding areas.
Councillors at the Bude Community Network Panel meeting on April 11, expressed concerns about how some potholes are being seen to, whilst others are left untouched.
Bude’s mayor, Cllr Lea Deely said: “Is it not ridiculous that people should be sent out to fix potholes, and then come back to be sent out again?”
Cornwall Councillor for Poundstock Nicky Chopak (Lib Dem) said there was a budget that the council had to meet, and that the council sends someone out when potholes need to be addressed. Once repaired, the areas are inspected once a year.
Cllr Chopak said: “We need to get the message across that people should contact the council if they are concerned about a pothole that hasn’t yet been addressed. I’ve known parishes to get their own paint and mark potholes themselves, in the hopes that the council will just come across them. This isn’t the way to address the problem.”
