NO ACTION will be taken by Bude-Stratton Town Council in response to claims from deputy mayor Louise Emo that mayor Paula Dolphin attained her position by "underhand" means, made at the authority's latest full meeting.

Cllr Emo alleged Cllr Dolphin, with the assistance of a third party, canvassed votes from other councillors by telephone, and in doing so had damaged the integrity of the council. The mayor, a month into her term, vehemently denied any knowledge of the deputy's claims.
