THE Mayor of Camelford is currently under investigation for an alleged breach of the Code of Conduct.

Cornwall Council confirmed that an investigation is under way following a complaint that was made by a former councillor.

On April 19, an Assessment Sub-Committee of the Standards Committee of Cornwall Council considered a complaint from Mr Bob Ireland [a former Camelford Town Councillor] concerning the alleged conduct of Cllr Rotchell.

It is alleged that Cllr Rotchell misused his position as chairman of the council and has falsely represented himself as a member of a non-existent council steering group in order to negotiate and sign a contract to obtain grants without the foreknowledge of any other member of the council.
