THE Post attended the Holsworthy Town Council annual meeting this evening (May 19), the council’s first face-to-face meeting in many months, in which the new mayor and deputy were elected.

Councillor Helen Parker was asked to continue in the role of mayor by Cllr John Allen who said she had “proved herself a competent councillor”. This was unanimously accepted by the council.

Cllr Keith Musker, who has served on the council for the past six years, was then asked by new mayor Cllr Parker to take up the position of deputy. This was also unanimously agreed by the council.

During the meeting a fond farewell was said to longstanding Devon County Councillor Cllr Barry Parsons, the Mayor’s cadet was invested and councillors were allocated to various council committees.
