THE Lewannick May day celebrations were, yet again, a great success, despite the less than cheerful weather.

The annual May day event, organised by Sarah Fry and Jenny Eno, saw a huge turnout of people for this highly anticipated date in the calendar, and managed to raise over £1,000 for two important causes for the village.

Through raffles, tombolas and stalls, both residents and visitors to the event raised over £1,000 for the Lewannick Stay and Play, and the Church Flush Fund.

Co-organiser, Sarah, told the Post: “It went brilliantly; we managed to raise over £1,000.

“It was absolutely heaving — I can’t believe it because of the horrible weather.”

Speaking of how this year’s event compared to last year’s, Sarah said: “It was still brilliant; it was only a little different because we had lost the inflatables this year.”

She added: “A huge thank you to everyone who came along, even in the most horrendous weather!”
