Sir Bevil Granville Lodge of Mark Master Masons No.1231 of Bude had been informed that the 2nd Bude Scout Troop were embarking on the great project of building a brand new Scout hut themselves, after sadly being forced to leave their previous home.

The Worshipful Master, Tony Farrell, the Lodge secretary, Mike Johns and the charity steward Keith Taylor sought support from the Cornwall Mark Foundation who very kindly accepted the request and donated the sum of £500 to assist with this project.

Tony Farrell, Mike Johns and Keith Taylor visited the site on Saturday morning in blistering heat to find volunteers working on the new building.

They were very kindly taken round by Michael Green, Chairman of the Scout Troop who explained the aims and purposes of the building. He was assisted by Mark Gwennap, the vice chairman.

It was explained that young Scouts will come from far afield to benefit from Scouting, a hobby that they will fondly remember, along with the skills they will have learnt, for many years.

At the conclusion of the tour, Tony Farrell was delighted to present a cheque for £500 to assist with this work, with the proviso that the Mark Master Masons of Bude be informed of the progress being made and the Grand Opening date when it is completed.
