AT HOLSWORTHY'S Annual Town's Meeting, held in the Market Hall on Thursday, April 18, the Mayor, Cllr Pauline Ede announced that the civic honour, Freeman of Holsworthy, voted for by the public, had been awarded to Mary Barfett for her service to the local community, writes Christine Williams.

Mary was born at Germansweek and had lived in Holsworthy since 1971. In the early days she had supported the playgroup, working as a supervisor, and raised funds for the guides and scouts.

A long time member of Bodmin Street Methodist Church, she had been a Sunday School teacher for many years, had organised the annual flower festival and was a member of the Holsworthy Hamlets Flower Club.
